I apologize for not updating more frequently. But it’s for good reason, we’ve been super busy with post-production the past few months and I’m so happy to announce that we have a full rough cut of the film! The runtime is 1 hour and 18 minutes, not including the credits and a handful of exterior shots we plan to pick up this winter.
This week, we’ll be sending the cut to Colin, our sound editor, to start mixing the audio. Our composer, Raymond, has been working on music samples over the past few weeks and he should now be able to really flesh out the score. And, of course, our visual effects artist, Steven, will start working on the title sequence and other effects that need to be done throughout the film. The final step will be color correction. We still have a long road ahead of us, but the fact that it’s cut together and all the footage worked out is such a dream come true for me. It looks amazing & the actors’ performances are just phenomenal. I cannot thank my crew and cast enough for making this film not only happen but a film to be proud of; and I cannot wait to share it with all of you!
We aim to have a teaser cut by September and a full trailer by late October. By February, we hope to have the full final cut and be able to have the cast, crew & backer premiere. Then maybe we’ll have a private screening for anonymous audience feedback. Once April hits, we’ll start submitting to festivals, most notably my dream festival, the Toronto International Film Festival. After the film premieres at a festival, we’ll be able to send all the $25 or higher backers their DVD’s and other rewards.
In the meantime though, we’ll try to share exclusive footage, videos and photos with you through the rest of the process. Thank you again so much for your generosity & support, as well as your patience throughout the completion of this film! We could not have made this happen without every single one of you.
Updates, including our Cover Story for the local paper in Chatham!
We’ve been very busy in post-production the past couple months. So far we have the first 5 scenes cut, which is about 12 minutes of the film. We’ll be making a ton of progress this week and hopefully get the first quarter of the film in rough cut!
We’ve been sharing stills and behind the scenes photos since wrapping production and will continue to do so. We want you to be as excited about the finished film as we are! We even have a fun behind the scenes video planned that will feature some standout moments in our yearlong pre-production process. That should hold you all over until the release of the DVD, which will feature behind the scenes videos from during production!
I’ve also compiled a long list of festivals we intend to submit to and what some of our plans are for the film once we’re out of post. I should be able to share that with you in the coming months!
In the meantime though, we’ve been slowly increasing our following and potential audience by reaching out to blogs and press that can feature us. If you know of any, please do let us know. And we’ve been lucky enough to have press reach out to us! The local paper in Chatham, NY contacted me with interest in featuring Summit on their cover because we shot some scenes in Canaan, NY. It was a wonderful opportunity and my full Q&A can be read here. The actual article came out last week and we’re happy to share it with you. Download the images here and zoom in to read!
Hope you enjoy! And stay tuned for more updates! We post quite frequently on Facebook & Twitter with what scenes we’re working on and what’s next in the process, so be sure to Like & Follow us!
A couple weeks ago I was interviewed by Katherine Kocijanski of the Chatham Courier, the Hudson-Catskill sponsored local newspaper. The paper took an interest in Summit because we shot some of the film in Canaan. The story was released this week but, unfortunately, the paper is not…
So sorry for not updating sooner, I was recuperating from our exhausting but successful shoot. We wrapped production just before 6am on Saturday, February 2nd! We had a lot of mishaps to get over in the beginning and had some pretty intense conditions to overcome (it was below 0 and windy during at least two of our overnight shoots) but, in the end, we managed to hang in there and finish the film in record time! I’m so incredibly proud of what we all did together and so grateful to my cast & crew for sticking it out and making the production a success! We made magic happen and that’s absolutely incredible.
We’re now entering post-production and cannot wait to keep updating you along the way. We’ve got a long road ahead of us, but the footage looks great and the actors were fantastic; so the end product is going to be absolutely amazing! If you’d like to see some of the behind the scenes photos and stills I’ve shared so far, check out our Facebook page.
Not much time to do updates during production. We’re shooting on pretty intense hours (I finally slept last night after 3 days). But just wanted to quickly share some behind the scenes photos with you! Check them out here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.533676889989590.124854.391960184161262&type=1 We did all our driving scenes the past 2 days in Canaan, NY and are doing some night scenes outside the house tonight in Lenox, MA! Cross your fingers for us that tonight goes off without a hitch!
Our footage looks so good and we can’t wait to shoot more!
